NASA's Gutsy Rover Landing

Here is a nice explanation on the landing procedure on Mars for the rover Curiosity, schedule to launch next week and land next August. Seems like quite a complicated procedure -- pretty gutsy on NASA's part.

The rover is "sedan-sized": 10 ft long, 9 ft wide, 7 ft high. Here's a good picture. It even has a cup holder!

2/3rds of missions to Mars have failed.

PS: Just kidding about the cup holder.
